That is certainly good news! I just want Sammy to grow older but not be in any pain either. So far the reiki is working on her hips, but yes, the white faces just seem to appear! Thanks for the comments!

Don't be too hard on yourself! I call my dogs 'the Minister's children'. All dogs have their own personalities and foibles.

Some people are blessed with easy dogs, and others of us...well I think our dogs come to us for a reason. I've got one that digs and then guards holes and likes to jump up onto the kitchen table (only when company comes to dinner) The other is a notorious poop eater and barker. We have a lot of deer in the neighborhood who pass by at about 4 a.m. Thanks to Bella, we know when the deer are out....and so do the neighbors!

Luckily I have a lot of dog lovin' friends!

Those white faces seem to appear out of nowhere, don't they? (Just like those darn wrinkles!) The good news is that well cared for canines are living longer and longer these days. Lately I have met people even with large dogs, living well into their teens. I know that our companion animals live much shorter lives than we do, but for someone (ahem) pushing an age close to Sammy's, I feel like someone about 20 years younger. I think dogs can feel this way too.

What a cutie! My Smiley dog has taken to getting into the trash every once in a while. Nothing like coming home to shreds of dirty paper towels everywhere! But the love she gives me is well worth the occasional personality flaw. She is a dog after all!
